AUSTRALIAN SOIL MANAGEMENT

CASE STUDIES
The majority of broad-acre farmers are heavily reliant upon traditional management practices and chemical inputs (fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides) to maintain production.
The purpose of the case studies is to introduce Active Carbon Farming as a real-world solution. We need to ‘break the ice’ and show farmers that soil regeneration is the first step in a new approach to farming. Active Carbon Farming combines increased profit with environmental benefits.
After only two years, our case studies are showing real results on real farms. Results include pasture dry matter increases of up to 49%, a 20% increase in oil content for canola, protein upgrades for wheat, 10% increases in almond production and an increase in yield and sugar content for vineyards.
Spreading the word
The case studies have provided a reference point for spreading the message to other farmers in each farming district. We are looking for new clients.
Six field days were located on Case Study farms in 2016 -17. Field days were well attended with up to 75 participants. The sites were originally chosen for easy access by road for machinery and contractors. This also provided easy access for attendees at field days. The majority of attendees came from the personal networks of farmer/managers of the Case Study farms. The credibility of these farmer/managers and their personal relationships carried the most weight on the day.
